Hi guys
I wonder if you can help me (I've bin told to post here so , sorry if this is the wrong place to post )
I'm having trouble trying to get my money back . amzon send me this email a few weks ago :
Thank you for writing to Amazon.co.uk with your concern.

When you place an order with Amazon.co.uk or on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace, we contact your payment card's issuing bank to confirm that your card has a valid number, and has not been reported as lost or stolen.

This is communicated via a full authorisation for the amount of the purchase. However, we do not actually proceed with the charge. This is simply one of the security measures that we use to protect our customers. Additionally, if you sell items on Amazon Marketplace, we may periodically authorize your card to ensure your account information is up-to-date.

Please rest assured that you have only been charged once for this order. Most likely, your bank is holding this extra authorisation on your card. Some banks have been known to hold these authorisations for 7-10 business days, and you will need to contact your bank if you wish to have this authorisation removedThank you for shopping at Amazon.co.uk.

from this email amazon are telling me that from the order that got cancel ( long story) , it is now my banks responbiltiy to authorised this money back to me . I have contacted my bank but the are still telling me that the no nothing about authorisations . I'm now at my wits end with the bank telling me lies after lies when amazon had told me in another email to me ''Please be aware that the responsibility for releasing the authorised funds lies solely with your bank and therefore we cannot guarantee that the bank will respond to this request.''
so where do I go from here as the bank it holding back my £104.08p do I take them to court or where do I go , if you can help me that would be fab . thanks all :)

Perhaps we need the long story... Amazon are talking about placing an authorisation for funds on your card when you place an order. When the order's then dispatched the funds are taken. Sometimes the original issue and the payment issue don't tie together properly and you temporarily end up with the funds being taken twice. Incidentally the first payment isn't taken as such, rather it's just 'ringfenced'. This is a bit of an irritating practice - Asda do it a lot with their online orders - but usually it resolves itself once the issuing company (Amazon) release the first ringfenced payment.

However, this looks like it's to do with a cancelled order which you're trying to get refunded. In which case, Amazon's response is not appropriate as they're talking about a different issue. We need to understand more about what's happened before we can advise.

Here's an earlier thread, but it doesn't say much more.

OP, forget about court and ombudsmen, that will all take a long time.

Well a relatively long time... you'll have your money back long before you get any where with those other things.

How long have you been waiting to get this money back?
