Wedding Dresses from China

My daughter has just purchased a wedding dress and paid via Pay Pal from The Wedding Dress Online Shop, which had a .co.uk e-mail address. Pay Pal paid the money to guifeng xia! The dress would appear to be coming from China. Communications are in broken English and the grammar leaves a lot to be desired. They promised dress in 30 days but are keep putting date back due to holidays and festivals. We are worried we are not going to get it. We have opened a dispute in the Resolution Centre of Pay Pal. Has anyone else experience of this company?

Unfortunately, just because a website has a .co.uk address, it does not mean that it is located in the UK.
Looking at the "Contact Us" page clearly shows:-Address:
Room 1417, Building 1, Suzhou GongTou Hi-tech Pioneer Park
No. 483 Changxu Road, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province,
China
Zip Code:
215000
Phone:

They make no secret of the fact that it's a Chinese company. It's all over their website - for example, the Contact Us page clearly lists a Chinese address, the homepage's first sentence is that the company '...specializes in designing and manufacturing various styles of high quality wedding clothing and apparel in China'. I don't think they're scammers at all but I think their customer service is a bit haphazard, judging by some of the reviews."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I agree that there is nothing to suggest they are scammers, but a lot of people really don't dig deep enough into a company if they see a .co.uk web address.
Personally, I always check the contact us section to ensure that a company :-
a) is physically based in the UK
b) has a UK based telephone contact number (not just a web form "contact us" or email)
I sometimes call them just to see if they actually answer the phone as well.
If it is company that I have never used before, then a quick look over any reviews via Google is a good gauge. Sometimes "cheapest" just isn't really worth the extra risk.
OP - I hope that the wedding dress gets delivered in time, maybe they are just have an odd glitch of material or similar, and all will be ok ?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

I agree. Personally I wouldn't have ordered from this site. But hopefully the dress will arrive in time and be just as ordered. The reviews are mixed - some people have been very happy indeed."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I hope it turns up in time - I ordered my wedding dress from a very similar company (not sure if I'm allowed to name them?) and I have nothing but praise for them, it fitted perfectly and was of an amazing standard considering the comparatively low price paid (£160 inc delivery to UK).
Fingers crossed for you and your daughter.Team Pink! Baby girl due 25/5/140 -

Yes, you can name them. Why not do so, and give them a bit of free publicity!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I agree with the comments from other posters about the website.
When did she place the order?
Has the 30 day deadline passed?
What was the date it was supposed to be delivered?
What revised date have they given you?
How long to go before the wedding?0 -
Hi i ordered from the same place the last week in march with my wedding next week but still no dress. They did say and i confirmed there is a chinese holiday that ended today. So it should ship today or tomorrow. I am very nervous.0

what delivery date did they give you?
It's probably not what you want to hear but I think you took a massive risk ordering so close to your wedding.
I hope it turns up in time and it fits OK.0
