Best Sat Nav for Iphone

I'm wanting to get a sat nav for my Iphone. I did download the free NavFree but when I have my music playing I don't get the sat nav giving me spoken directions. I'm looking for a satnav that will override the music and talk to me and give me clear directions. I know there are a few out there, and I've used TomTom sat navs in the past, but TomTom seems the most expensive and I was wondering if it really is worth paying for.

Tomtom. You can use Google maps but you need access to the interwibble whilst on the move. There are others based on the OpenStreet maps but IME their mapping is far from complete.0

TBH I wouldn't bother - the paid-for SatNav apps for iPhone are very expensive, TomTom UK&Ireland costs £50 for example - at that price you'd be better off going for a second-hand standalone satnav off ebay, which will function better. I've tried out both the TomTom and Co-Pilot apps and found them very fiddly, much prefer the standalone satnav with NavFree as a backup on my iphonepoppy100

Indeed they do but as you still need an active data connection, the same problem applies and it'll cost you the earth to use abroad.
And you can get Google nav for free on the iPhone.0 -
I'd have a look at the Navigon app, personally i think thats better than the Tomtom on the Iphone.

On the iPhone I have used TomTom, CoPilot, Navfree, Maps (native), Orange Maps, Skobbler, Navigon, AA Sat Nav and my choice every time is CoPilot.
Out of the free choices I would go for Skobbler.
(If you are using your iPhone for Sat Nav, don't forget your in car charger!)I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -
So TomTom costs more, why do you think that is? It works well, that's why. OK you can get free ones, but hey! what do you expect for nothing? And as to the guy that says get a second hand satnav off Ebay, why bother? what's the point of having to carry 2 devices round with you when TomTom works absolutely perfectly on the iPhone? well mine has for 2 years anyway?0

New satnavs are under £50 and might even have Europe on them. Keep one in the glove compartment, you will never hear the voice directions on an iPhone without fiddly connections/an iPhone docking station in the car.0
