Howdens kitchen query

Sounds like you are having the pee taken out of you. I would go back to your insurers and say you are not happy with the builder they have appointed. You need to remember that you are under no obligation whatsoever to use the builders they appoint. It may also be worth you appointing your own loss adjustor. Most policies allow for this and the insurers will pick up the tab. He will then work out costs in your favour and negotiate with the insurance company.
You shouldn't be having to top up the costs if you are getting a like for like kitchen. Granted if you wanted a high end German kitchen then it would be reasonable that you pay something, or if you wanted specialist appliances etc or granite worktops. But Howdens are a decent mid range kitchen and there is no way that the price they give should be exceeding the 'limit of liability' set by the insurers.
I think you should tell the builder where to get off as he seems to be taking you for a right mug!!Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
