Hiya, i need some advice, im 17. My mum passed away in july. Meaning, i have no parents to support me, Also no family who are willing to give me anymore then a fiver.
The rented accomodation we lived in together was put in trust for me. I have decided to move out, i have arranged a 3 way swap, once her belongings are sold and split between me and my siblings i will probabley end up with £100.
I know this isnt enough to furnish a flat, no where near, i need a cooker, a sofa, a fridge freezer. I need all the basic stuff. But i dont have enough money.
I looked into spreading the cost with littlewoods as i could pay a few quid a week, but no...you have to be over 18. Does anyone have any suggestions, please. Thankyou x

How about trying the free papers, sometimes people get rid of nearly new things just because they are replacing them. Or maybe cash convertors or charity shops somewhere like that, or ask around friends, family if they are soon to be getting rid of anything or can't you use your Mum's things until you get yourself sorted and delay the sale of those?0

You don't need to furnish a flat. If I moved into an unfurnished place tomorrow I'd need a blow up mattress, a microwave, toaster and kettle - that'd be enough until I could get the rest of the stuff together.
Once you've got that you can eat, sleep and sit down.
After that I'd be looking at local 2nd hand furniture shops, charity shops, small ads in windows, freecycle and even auction rooms. Auction rooms are good as they often have repossessed furniture and nobody's really interested in buying it, so you can get stuff cheap.0 -

Hi, I'm so sorry you've lost your mum and and have such a lot to cope with at such a young age.
Can I just ask, if the house is in trust for you why are you giving it up, can't you carry on living there and shouldn't you get your rent paid? And what do you mean by a three way swap?
I've looked at your first post, have you found a job now or got something sorted with benefits?

Yes try freecycle website and get yourself down to the Job Centre asap. Open an account with post office if you lack ID so benefits can be paid in. I would go here first thing as it takes a couple of weeks.0

Can you use the items you have already ie bed / sofa / kitchen suff?
Like some has said, why are you giving the place up?
Are you getting all the benefits etc you are entitled to?
Where does your sibling live? can you share with them, if you really have to given up the flat that is in trust to you.
Try freecycle / freegle

Why on earth do you think you need all these things new? I am in my mid 50s, have 3 grown up children living at home, have been a single parent for 12 years, and I have never had anything new except one mattress which went on a pine bed frame advertised for £25 in the local shop window. Get into debt now, on stuff you really could find second hand for low prices or free, and you are setting yourself up for a lifetime of spending money you don't have.
How old are your siblings? Are they independent? Working? Studying? Can't you stay with one of them? Why can't you stay where you are a bit longer?
Are you working or still in education? Get a part time job if you are studying, there are plenty out there. Sign up on freecycle, people are very good there. And what you can't get free, buy second hand from the paper, shop notice boards, charity shops. The big ones have furniture as well as curtains and bedding. Don't make things more complicated than they need to be - do you have to sell your late mother's furniture, linen, curtains, kitchen equipment?0 -
I have no official advice for you but as you are living as named tenant in council property, I would not chose to move out. Cannot see any way you could pay the rent elsewhere. Why isn't your biological mum paying her way to stay in your property? Too many unanswered questions...Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Please read question properly before making any comments. It's very insensitive to the OP.0
