Old Paper Share Certificates Lloyds TSB.

Help is sought from knowledgeable person regarding old Lloyds TSB paper certificates. I am trying to help out a friend who needs every penny for nursing home fees.
He has very many old paper share certificates from about 1999 to 2007 in Lloyds TSB.Looks like he has had 2 initial holdings(one came from TSB shares before the companies became one).Interestingly in the same name but slightly different addresses which would explain why he gets 2 lots of agm/account papers.Seems he elected for "more shares" instead of real ££ as dividends. There are at least 50 share certificates.Questions as follows;
1)Are these still valid (i.e. was there any consolidation/adjustment/issue of new/replacement certificates after 2007 which makes these irrelevant)?
2)As we are not sure we have found all of them (my friend cannot help as a brain injury has removed huge parts of his memory)do we just write to the registrars to ask for confirmation of his 2 holdings ?
or what ?
3)If the numbers the registrar confirms does not equal our paper records what do we do ?
I have a Power of Attorney to act for my friend.

Lloyds TSB as I am sure you know became Lloyds Banking Group in 2009 so the paper shares you have will almost certainly not be valid anymore and new ones will have been issued in the new group name. If they had the address it would be a surprise if communications were not sent to it.
Contact Equiniti who look after shares for Lloyds I seem to recall.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
brownbadger - You can check his registered holdings online.
All you need is
[1] Shareholder's Reference [from a certificate]
[2] Shareholder's Surname
[3] Shareholder's Postcode [as held by Equiniti]
Go to
http://www.shareview.co.uk/Pages/PublicShareEnquiry.aspx
find Lloyds Banking Grp from dropdown menu and enter the above details.
It's very straightforward, and I think you may find that the old certificates are still valid although, of course, the share price has fallen dramatically since 2007.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
brownbadger - I wonder if you've followed my suggestion and had any success?
I've just made an enquiry on my Lloyds Banking Group holding using the Account No. [=Shareholder's Reference] on my original TSB Group PLC share certificate dated 1987 - before Lloyds became LloydsTSB and it displayed my current holding in Lloyds Banking Group - even though I now have a new Account Number, so you should be able to do the same to check your friend's holding.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0
