Critical illness cancer cover

I am thinking of taking out a Well Woman Plus policy with American Life which would pay out in the event of me being diagnosed with one of seven female cancers. I was wondering if anyone else has this policy, or whether someone more financially clued up than myself would recommend it or tell me to steer clear?

All information would be much appreciated!

Thank you :)

  • think about it realistically... what 'female' cancers would they be covering against and howlikely are you to get one of those specific cancers? You wouldn't be covered for things like lung/skin cancers which are massive killers. You'd be better off getting normal life/critical illness cover TBH.

American Life are not a mainstream provider and do issue policies that are basically worthless. I wouldnt ever dream of recommending one of their products, let alone this one.

This plan certainly has very limited cover...get a quote for a full cover CI plan and compare what it covers to the ALICO plan. Then make an informed decision. try http://www.moneysupermarket.com/lifeinsurance/uk-life-insurance.aspx for CI quotes.
