(Some) Cyclists!!

I use one particular set of traffic lights every day on my commute. I have to turn right and there is a filter lane.

Around twice a week a cyclist coming in the other direction will turn left into my path on their red light while I am turning on my green.

It drives me mad that some cyclists think that red lights do not apply to them! It means I have to watch out that I dont squash them as I turn as the junction is not overly wide.

I also live just after the junction so I have to turn right, then immediately indicate left and stop, then reverse onto my drive. It means I end up with a cyclist swearing at me for stopping after just overtaking them while they cycled into my path through a red! GRRRR!!!!

And ofcourse they won't stop and give way to me while I reverse on... I have to wait for them to pass.

Anyway rant over (until it happens again next week!).

I should add that when I have a cyclist in the right hand turn lane with me I always allow them to cycle on and do not overtake them before my drive as there isnt much room to do so.

You have a point about the cyclist (is it the same one?) going through a red. This winds me up as a driver and a cyclist.

Unfortunately, thereafter you must give way to the cyclist and cutting him up is a no-no.

On the plus side, award yourself a gold star for not parking in the road and reversing into your drive.:) A skill which many drivers on our estate seem to lack.
