Self Catering Alnmouth/Northumbrian Coast

After much googling and debate over where to go for a family beach holiday in the UK we're looking at Alnmouth or its environs (an area I've never been to but from where a number of previous generations have lived)
Anyone got any experiences of holidays around here or self-catering suggestions of where to stay. We're looking to be fairly close to the beach given my partner's impaired mobility.
Looking at late August so obviously the majority of places will be booked up but there seem to be the odd one or two
Just at the stage of Google overload now

I have accommodation in Beadnell or Seahouses if interested with some availability. Google beach haven cottage seahouses or sand haven cottage beadnell and contact me mention MSE

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Are you looking for cottages or Holiday Park?
Cresswell Towers holiday park is very close to the beach and is overlooking beautiful Druridge Bay and has a lovely ice cream shop there. It is a good base for visiting the whole of the Northumbrian coastline.0
