Access for my Cats

I will be moving back to my old flat which is on the first floor of a small block of flats. I would like to arrange for my cats to have access to the garden alley which will lead to the community garden area but need to know if it is possible to have some form of access from the bathroom window. There is about a 20 foot drop from the window and there is no immediate tree or wall for them to jump to hence I wondered if anyone has any suggestions as to what can be built to ensure they have a safe access to and from the garden.
I was thinking of some form of steps, that could also be used as a fire exit but this may be quite expensive. Alternatively, does anyone know of any companies that produce a device which can be attached to the window securely so that they can slide down or climb down, maybe steps that are suitable for cats. I have googled but cannot find anything similar.
I really want to live in a garden flat but as the market is not good right now it is going to be impossible to find something else.
Please advise if you have any suggestions.
Many thanks

No suggestions but obviously anything going on the outside of the building would need approval from the freeholder or management company. And I'm not sure I can see them going for the installation of cat steps....
Edit: here you go:

One of my cats favourite spots was right on top of the shed. She used to jump up onto the fence & then up onto the shed. As she got older, it used to scare me seeing her jump down, so we built her a ladder which she then used all the time. Just a plank of wood with battons every few inches going across the plank. Then she had a deck at the top which she laid on or she'd meander back on top of the shed.
The good old days, she passed away at 19 yrs old, 6 years ago0 -
My cat use to climb up the wisteria and bang on the bedroom window when he wanted to come in. Maybe some kind of trellis would be enough. I suppose it rather depends on how resourceful your cats are though.0

Thank you for this, I will certainly see if this is possible. So sorry you lost your cat. They are like members of the family aren't. But it sounds like your cat had a wonderful life with such lovely owners. Thank you once again.0 -

One is particularly young and agile the other quite old and would need a solid structure as she is not great at climbing. Many thanks for your suggestions, greatly appreciated.0
