Hi all,
Im a low key seller maybe 10-15 items a year when my kids grow out of clothes that are still in good condition lol
Anyway someone has asked me if i will except a postal order as payment. Ive never had / seen one before so I'm unsure if this is a safe way to receive payment and if there is any scams i should be aware off.
Thanks for any help

Unless they've changed, they have to be uncrossed to cash at the post office. Crossed postal orders need to go into your bank account.
I always say that I will accept uncrossed ones only, as to go to my bank costs petrol & over £1 parking fees.
Maybe you could suggest bank transfer, free to both parties. My favourite of all methods of payment.0 -
Thanks Hermum,
I didn't know about the uncrossed thing, it doesn't even say that on the post office website so I'm glad you told me.
Luckily my bank is a few doors down to the post office so very handy for me and both are walking distance too

if they're crossed then pay them in to bank - postal orders are guaranteed so no problem unless your suspicious about it being fake etc..
uncrossed the po will deal with.0 -
Postal order equals cash but it requires charges from the buyer. You can ask the buyer to pay alternative methods to avoid these charges, they generally willing to do so to save a few pounds0

I've been asked if I will accept a PO but didn't realise I would have to pay alternative charges as the buyer on ebay. Is it much as couldn't see anything on site? Many thanks.0 -
You don't have to pay anything extra on eBay but to get a postal order from the post office there is a fee incurred.I've been asked if I will accept a PO but didn't realise I would have to pay alternative charges as the buyer on ebay. Is it much as couldn't see anything on site? Many thanks.

Thanks! It's the buyer who will have to pay not the seller. Sorry I mis-read the previous answer.0
