Halifax easycash account extremely expensive to use online?

I would like to be able to use a debit or credit card online and preferrably also for buying things online in other currencies. I have found it quite a hassle to get a proof of address so I was thinking of getting a Halifax easycash account but the price of 1.50 pounds for each transaction online plus bad 2.75% exchange rate conversion put me off.

Are there other options available?

I dont need credit, only a debit card I can transfer some money to and use for online purchases.

my halifax current account (non easycash) charges the same
try looking for overseas vendors who accept Paypal, this is actually a very good way of buying from overseas (particularly the states)
    It's a health benefit ...
  • Take a look at Norwich and Peterborough BS as well as Santander Zero current account. You may be eligible for the latter if you have a Santander/A&L mortgage or a Santander savings account with over 10k (held for at least 3 months).

    Thanks for the reply.

That 1.50 pound fee is very annoying. I can accept a few pence as a fee, but 1.50 is too much IMO especially when buying low value items.
What are the benefits of using Paypal? I want to be able to get the best deals when using a card online. I have some visa cards already, but I dont think it is possible to use the visa cards online that I already have when they are not issued in the UK?
