Has anyone else had a Neff oven which has rusted through

We have had our Neff Double Oven for 7rs but in its 5th year it started to rust in the top lining, above the grill element, of the top oven. The holes are now enormous and we cannot use the oven.
Neff have informed us that it is..... "due to 'leaving' dishes with a high moisture content for long periods in the oven".
As I never leave cooked dishes in an oven for long period and only used this top oven mainly for grilling - we thoroughly disagreed with their findings. They also told us they had never seen this before.
I would love to know if anyone else has had a similar experience with Neff ovens or appliances. Please post if you have.

Seems you're not the only one, unless you posted the below:

And a reviewer saying the same thing happened to them:

Seems Neff tell everyone it's because they are grilling dishes with a high moisture content. Do they think you're all grilling soup or something?
p.s. They are certainly telling porkies that they've never seen the problem before!0 -

I think the same OP has posted all the 3 reports. We have much the same Neff double oven (not shure of the code) had it about 7 years and no problems at all. The top oven has a self cleaning applied coating , which is still perfect. The top oven will not suffer from condensation as it is ventilated to allow circulation of air above and below the oven door. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -
Just read this after trying to find out whether my oven can be repaired.
I have a Neff single oven, about 8 years old and the grill element has just fallen down due to the clip falling off. When I tried to screw it back in it there's nothing to screw into - the top of the oven around the screw hole has rusted away!
I note reasons given by Neff to others, and I'm quite puzzled. My oven has a self-clean function which basically steams the oven clean. You have to put water on the oven floor and use the ECS function.
Surely this would be far more likely to causerust than moist food - yet it is part of the ovens functions!
I know the oven is 8 years old, but I would expect a quality oven to last longer than this (my last 'cheapy' one lasted 12 years and was still going when I changed it!)
Will contact Neff Monday, find out what they have to say!0 -
Personally think Neff is the most overrated brand for appliances. You pay for style not substance. Have known quite a few people whose Neff appliances have not lasted nearly as long as you would think given the image of the brand.0

I've just had a look at our 14 year old B1430 single oven. Not a mark on the metal plate above the grille element.
Mind you the grill element failed the first week we had it and I've lost count of the fan elements I've changed in it.
Also have a Neff dishwasher ceramic hob and extractor, they've all been OK.
Maybe look for a faulty one or ask a kitchen fitter to keep their eye out and get the panel from that. Assuming it isn't rusted.0 -
I bought my neff cooker about 6/7 years ago
top of grill is really rusted
also by the lights and inside door rim of the main and small oven
my service man said it was because we live near the sea
as I have other neff appliances that are not rusty this can't be the case0 -
I have a 'top of the range' Neff double oven bought 4 years ago and a few months back the grill on my large oven fell down complete with the top oven lining. There is a self-tapping screw of less than 1cm which is supposed to hold both these quite weighty items in place. As the oven is now out of guarantee I contacted my local electrical domestic service engineer who said that he saw this problem regularly and that there is no way of replacing the screw properly as it is not possible to access the oven from above. The only option was to rivet it in place and if this doesn't work the whole oven has to be replaced!
In my opinion this short self-tapping screw is totally inadequate for purpose. I have contacted Neff who like the other people have sent me their stock answer that the screw has fallen out because it is probably caused by 'excessive moisture within the cavity either during cooking or possibly if food is kept hot in the oven to cool down'. As I use my grill and oven quite rarely and mainly for grilling bacon I cannot see how Neff's response can be valid. In my opinion there is a design fault or else this type of oven screw has been deliberately used knowing that the constant heating and cooling of the oven will after a relatively short period of time cause it to become loose and fall out.
My oven was installed when I had a new kitchen 4 years ago with other Neff appliances. All of the other items failed within 6 months of use (the dishwasher was only used twice) and parts had to be replaced - fortunately under guarantee. I will never buy another Neff product!0 -
Ours did the same. Techinican was an old guy and has seen it often. Its because of the condensation from the cleaning setting. We stopped using it but damage already done. Just had the element changed and the screws were rusted in and had to be drilled out. Never buy Neff again.0

My Neff oven is 13 years old and has had no issues whatsoever during that time (the only thing I've ever had to replace is the light bulb :rotfl: ) I guess the more recent ones have suffered from cost-cutting somewhere and haven't quite been built to the same standards. I'll make sure that when it eventually needs replacing, I buy a different brand because by the looks of it, the new ones aren't really worth buying if they have those kinds of problems. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0
