Can i swap a non switched FCU with a switched one?

Hi,
In our kitchen under the current worktop we have 2 FCUs. One is switched the other is not. We're getting a new kitchen and the new kitchen units have backs (current kitchen doesn't) so the FCUs will need to be moved up above the worktop. Currently the FCUs are big ugly white ones with the socket installed onto a back which is mounted to the wall. What i'd like to do is change the FCUs so that they're brushed aluminum to match the rest of the sockets in the kitchen and mount them inside the tiled wall with the other FCU and socket that currently sits above the worktop.
The only problem is the only FCUs i can find that match the existing kitchen are Volex 13A switched FCUs. Is it ok to replace the non switched one we currently have with a switched unit? I'm not sure of the difference between switched and non switched units (bar the switch!)
Thanks

yes you can change em to switched units.
ps
some appliances/devices should not be switched off, hence the no switch type.
