Haven devon cliffs

Hi am going here for a week in July with a 5 and 3 year old and DH. Any recommendations for days out and things to do in the area? Think will use Tesco vouchers to go to the Crealeys theme park. Also what is there in terms of kitchen equipment? We in a superior 3 bed. Would like to cook some nights to save money eg pasta bake or lasagne x

    hi there,

I live about 5 miles from devon cliffs and there is lots to do. Crealy as previously mentioned is worth a visit, but expensive (though if you have a tescos clubcard you can redeem your tokens for a ticket). You have World of Country Life right on your doorstep which I actually prefer to Crealy. Also there is Bicton Botanical Gardens which is cheaper than both and on a sunny day is a really lovely day out, you could take a packed lunch and make a day of it no problem.

There are lots of lovely beaches around here if the weather is good - Ladram Bay, Exmouth (but dont go in the sea, a very strong current).

Pecorama in Beer is also a really good day out. Has a tent with a stage and puts on really good entertainment for the kids.

If you want to go a bit further afield Dartmoor on a nice day is lovely (that is if your children like walking and climbing).

My children love just going to Budleigh Salterton, getting an ice-cream, has a really nice shop just near the seafront that makes homemade ice cream and just sitting on the beach. There is a really good playpark at the end of the beach aswell (which is free).

Hope that gives you some ideas, it really is a beautiful part of the country and with a bit of planning you can have a brilliant time come rain or shine.

    Happy holidays:)

  • Crealy is really fab but please be aware that there are height restrictions (may not be suitable for 3 & 5 yr old). Check out their website first. I'm only saying this because when we went when our kids were younger there wasn't really much for them to go on.
  • Hi
On another note, if you will be cooking, there is a Tesco just 5 mins from the site, which we found very useful when we stayed there last year, and cheaper than the site shop!
Also its one of the few sites that has its own Starbucks ( my guilty pleasure i'm afraid!!)
Was in 7th heaven when I realised it was there!! Especially as our caravan was only 2 mins walk away! i was on a caffeine 'high' for nearly a week!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!!

    hi

i have always found the kitchen equipment in our vans perfectly ok for normal cooking from scratch - although i always take my own sharp knife...

there are pyrex dishes for cooking in the oven, and a roasting tin,

i don't think there is a lasagne dish as such ie not an oblong one...

but you could use the pyrex oval dishes??

    hth

We live close by and have had friends staying with us for the last fortnight with children aged 6 & 5. Things they have enjoyed are Exmouth Beach & then Budleigh for an ice-cream but parking in Exmouth is expensive, Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary which is free to enter, Pennywell Farm, South Devon Railway combined with Totnes Rare Breeds and the Otter & Butterfly place, Pecorama at Beer, Seaton Tramway but park at Colyton because it's free and get the tram to Seaton. We went to a brilliant ice cream shop on the Esplanade in Seaton then walked over the bridge to the Axmouth side of the beach & went fossil hunting. We got the tram back to Colyton and had a cream tea at the station.

We have also done 2 National Trust trips with them (Castle Drogo and Killerton) and both normally have summer activities for children like Punch & Judy or discovery trails.

Hope this helps. Tourist Info in Exmouth & Budleigh are great and will know what's going on.
