Don't be misled by the 40% off at Threshers/Haddows/Bottoms Up!

I've started this thread in the hope that I will save at least one person some money. By this I mean not spending it on the 40% off at Threshers deal and spending at Tesco where the bargains are far better.
How can they be better I hear you ask when Thresher are doing 40% off and Tesco are only doing 25% off. Well it's a little known fact (that has even been confirmed in the Threshers thread by a Threshers manager) that Threshers increases their starting prices and then give you 40% off to make it look as though you're getting a bargain. Plus many wines and champagnes at Tesco are more than 25% off at the moment and up to 50% off.
After all the posts telling people how The Threshers group hike up prices compared to supermarkets I really can't believe some people are considering using this offer. To be honest I think Martin should pull the other thread and start a new one because it's completely misleading.
Threshers prices are much higher than the supermarkets. Period!!! Take the 40% off and it means that on some wines you're saving a maximum of 20%. But Tesco are doing 25-50% off all wines at the moment so it really is a no brainer on this people. Especially when you add the £15 off a £50 spend or 1500 points on a £50 spend on tesco wine.
Here's an example used in the other thread:
Moet and Chandon 75cl bottle is £22.74 in Tesco. And that's before you apply the 25% off discount and the £15 discount code (XX-CERT) which can take the price down to £14.55 per bottle (delivered free - because the original price was over £100 for the case of 6) at Tesco. The same bubbly is £29.99 in Threshers. So apply the 40% and it takes it down to £18 per bottle.
Don't buy from Threshers! Buy from Tesco!
(I'm hoping this post doesn't get pulled and people bump it so that others can not get misled by the Threshers offer)

A good point well made - you beat me to it!It's not the taking part but the winning that counts.0

Good point. Thanks for pointing this out. I only read the original thread recently and didn't realise it worked out cheaper from Tesco...thanks0

Just thought I would bump this back up to keep it up there with the original thread.0

Don't forget that you have to buy 6 bottles in Tescos to get your 25% discount. There is not a minimum purchase in Threshers so someone wanting a single bottle of Champagne for a special occasion is better off in Threshers.0

Here's a question, does the 25% only come off at delievery like other shopping, as it doensn't seem to have come off when I try to make the order! It's all under control!:beer:0

Also Quidco do 3% for wines through Tesco!

The 25% off is shown in the initial price. If you look at all of the wines you'll see that they are all discounted by at least 25%.0 -
Good point, well made.

Thanks for posting Carl, I appreciate Martin posting this voucher but in hindsight the offer really isn't good at all.
I'm sure the site wouldn't stop the press for a 6% off at asda code, which is effectively what the code is.
However, I think we all agree Martin is allowed a little slip up once in a while, given how magnificent this site is!0
