Sub £1500 car good mpg??
Options
Any opinions i use a second car for work to save money on fuel and cut down the mileage on my main car (hot hatch).
Thinking of changing to something a bit bigger / 5 door so i can get the kids in easier / trips out on weekend and also just fancy a change
Problem i have is my beaten 106 diesel last count returned 72mpg!!! Only thing i can think of is a old passat diesel ? maybe 5 door golf?
Any other ideas

Citroen ZX 1.9D or Pug 306 equivalent. Non turbo will be more economic than the turbo version.
I dare say this one will do more than 40mpg (bit conservative of the seller i think) and a 1/3rd of your budget, 11 months MOT

I have a Xantia TD estate which is surprisingly diesel friendly, runs on neat veggie oil without any conversions or additives and only cost me £250 with almost 1 years m.o.t on it.... worth a punt, I say.....0

Ben
Brilliant choice - get some veg in it and run it for free! I run on veg which I collect for free, spent just £96 on diesel in 2010.0
