DVLA Fine

Got a fine through this morning for "failure to notify disposal of vehicle" so rang them as i had an acknowledgement letter that turned up after sending the log book off.

The DVLA are saying the fine still stands as this was to acknowledge that they had received the new keepers bit but not our part of the log book! So we still get fined for failure to let them know

I sold the car to a family member who has put private plates on it and the fine has the new car plates on so if i did not know the new owner would not even know it was the same car!!! As far as the DVLA are concerned we have to pay up ???

Did you post off the left hand page? If not, technically they're correct. However...

Tell them you did post it and that if they can't find it thats their problem. Remind them that there are already judgements against them in this respect.

Yep spoke to them on the phone and told them we posted the left hand page, Also got a letter confirming the car changed owners but apparently were still in the wrong.

My Uncle put a private plate on the vehicle straight away which seems to have caused the confusion, We posted his docs at the same time as ours (different envelopes)

What annoys me is the letter has a reg number we have never owned (no mention of make and model) and we have what we believed was our letter of confirmation but apparently this was sent becouse they recieved my uncles docs, How am i supposed to know what the letter should look like Its madness lol !
