Are building society cheques cleared funds and 'as good as cash'?

No, all banks treat them as cheques and go through the 2,4,6 clearing system. some banks allow early withdrawals.0

bankers drafts became too open to fraud so now theyre just counter cheques0

Sadly no, due to fraud. So if you are selling something do not release the goods until the cheque has cleared after 6 working days.0
