Returning a Freedom Pass

I'd be surprised if some sort of data regarding each card's use wasn't collected otherwise why the introduction of the card readers across England? Oyster card data is captured using the same technology and details of each journey can definitely be recovered for that.0

Here in Scotland when we use our bus pass the ticket contains the last four digits of the number.
Whether any use is made of this I don't know but it is collected.
Anyway, what purpose would it serve to send your freedom pass back?
Or any sort of free pass?
If you don't want it just throw it in the bin.
It will just cost the authority who issued it money to process the returned card.0
