XL.com changed my East Mids flight to Manchester

I have booked flights for my family (2a 2c) to Fuerteventura from East Mids in August 07 (out on 8th, back on 22nd) with XL.com. I received a letter yesterday saying they have pulled out of East Mids and we will now have to fly from Manchester. I have several concerns:
1- East Mids is close to me and I would have got a lift there, incurring zero parking charges. Manchester is miles away and we will have to drive, costing around £80 for parking plus petrol etc.
2 - The times of the Manchester flight are different, and we lose around 8 daytime hours on the first day and a couple of the last day.
I have spoken to XL.com and they said I can take it or leave it. If I want they'll give me a full refund of my deposit, but I booked these flights a couple of months ago when the prices were good (£945 for us all), I can now find several flights at more local airports (Luton, BHX) but they are much more expensive.
Can XL do this?
Is it worth hassling them to assist with the extra costs they have landed me with? - are they under any obligation?
Can I get a better deal on flights elsewhere for these dates if I choose to cancel?
So much for planning ahead and being organised.....
Thanks

Yes XL can do .it is take it or leave it, They cant fly you there from EMA if they dont offer that service anymore. Even booking a package holiday that far in front (or even close to departure) they can change what they like. If you look in the booking conditions it will explain your rights which are basicaly what they have said take the trip or have your money backIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0

I thought as much.
I'm still gonna moan like stink though and put up a fight for the little guy!
Well.....not so little.0 -
Thomson have flights at good times from East Mids for £1095 - so an extra £150 - i'd rather pay than trek over to manchester.
Unfortunatly it is all in the booking conditions and something you have to bear in mind when booking so far in advance.0
