How to lighten up a windowless hallway?

Good morning all!
Wondered if I may pick your brain. We are currently renting a small Tyneside flat which is lovely save for one thing - the hallway as you come through the door has no windows, bar a tiny little pane of glass in between the 'door' and the hallway. Whilst it isn't pitch black during the day, there is nearly no light in the hallway unless you flick on a light, and that's just depressing.
I would like to paint the walls (they are currently a fairly bright blue, but the painting was unfinished so that'll be fun to cover) and I thought a nice clean white. We don't have kids to put smudgy marks on the wall, but then I think it'll look too drab with a cream carpet. Any ideas, all? I don't want to spend too much as I'm only renting...

Can you position a large mirror in another room to reflect light in the direction of the hallway? I did this as my stairs have no windows - a large mirror in the dining room now reflects light coming in at the windows in corner over to the other corner at the entrance to the bottom of the stairs. I'd also go with a warmer colour - a cream or magnolia, white can be quite grey on dull days.0

paint the walls white, magnolia or say a pale yellow/lemon.
and buy some mirrors.Get some gorm.0 -
I have the same problem, was told to try the light and space paint or put in extra lights or even a light tile but when I looked into costs. I have decided to go the heapest option of using a pale lemon paint and mirror. Will tell you if it works once I get around to doing it. Atr the moment I'm installing the plumbing and central heating then the bathroom then I will do the hallway.0
