I think it's more that I'm easily confusing than you're easily confused lol

I mean easier for me (just for ones like this that seem to start/end comps at weird times) would be to have an ongoing thread like TaB and Puzzler

    eg REGULARLY UPDATED Asda comp

then add the comps to the thread, in new posts, as you come across them.

so say when you start the thread you can win a dress a table and a rug you add all them in one post on that thread

then when you check back one day you notice that they have added comps to win a book, a sofa and some beer....so you add them in a new post on the same thread

and then the next month they add a few more comps to win teabags and a TV but some of the others that started late last month are still running so instead of starting a new thread you just do another post in the same thread for them.

I think the only difference to what I'm suggesting and what you do is that you start a new thread each month and I personally would find it easier from one thread continually updated.

I think it's just because there's the overlap with Asda comps because I don't think others are confusing like this....and I really don't think it's you because none of your other comps confuse me, I just think the Asda comps are a bit odd. And I'm probably in the minority which is fine :)

I can see that having a new post for every single comp is overkill as they can all be entered from the same form. But I do struggle to stay on top of the Asda comps a bit at the mo.

Again, sorry for commenting, I'm really not trying to cause upset just giving my opinion because you started a poll so may have had a few other comments offline or similar?

No problem at all.I'll try & edit the poll as I did not think of your option.Sorry about that,as it sounds quite good.
ETA: I cannot seem to edit the poll but all comments, maybe in discussion are welcome.Sorry for not thinking of your option for the poll.

You don't need to apologise, I'm sorry if I seem to be criticising.
Thanks for posting the comps :D

I think I would agree with beffffff. Doing it this way, each comp would appear once and if you click the thanks after you have used each post, you would always be able to know what you have entered.
The current way does get a bit confusing at times.

I do wish I had thought of that option in the poll.
To save further adding to this I'll add a bit in discussion asking for more views

I think doing them separately or doing something like the Puzzler thread, might be a good idea as well, as some of them don't end on the last day of the month, and a couple of times I've noticed that they've added some new competitions later on in the same month.

My poll seems a bit wrong now :-(
My fault,I should have asked for more views from the often silent majority first.
Maybe if any more comps are posted a new long running regular thread can be started with this just for the HOVIS comp.

I also think that beffffff's idea is the best way to handle these.

I would suggest that you consider reserving post#1 in the thread for a key to the live comps (as babymoo has done with T-A-B HERE) that link to the comp posts further down the thread.

Post #1 could also contain guidance for the regular issues such as the 'greying out' problem.

PS. There's a new comp on the bottom of the form for a Sony PDVD & Harry Potter but I can't find any details yet.
  • I used to find it really hard to keep up with these too, but I've got a little tip for Firefox users which I discovered last month :D

I downloaded the add on 'FloatNotes' which lets you add sticky notes to pages which are loaded each time you visit that page.

I've got the settings in preferences set to 'Current page - with query' (the second option down on the 'Location' tab) and on the ASDA site when I've entered a comp I add a note to each direct comp page and it loads up every time I revisit it, so I know if I've entered that one or not :D

I have found though that with the ASDA site, that I have to add the note to the link that is just for example 'http://www.asdamagazine.com/2011/04/win-winnie-the-pooh-goodies-and-a-digital-camera/' rather than the one with the 'source' code on the end to get them to show up on both versions of the link (there might be a different setting that works for both?) which means that I have to use the links at the bottom of the page, rather than the list down the left hand side (or just delete the source from the end of each link individually before adding the note)

Hope that helps and makes sense! :o

Re: How to post the comps (although I've now found my own way of keeping track, I know not everyone uses Firefox or would want to/could use the FloatNotes add on) maybe this post can just be for the ones that are added in bulk at the beginning of the month (I've not noticed but are they all the ones that end on the same day towards the end of the month?) and then the ones that are added on later can be posted separately as and when they're added to the site and a note be put in the thread to check the main thread before entering the others on the form? (Especially if the ones they add later on have different end dates to the main thread?)
