Now that EGG has been swallowed up by Barclay's, done anybody know of a card that allows the transfer of cash from the card to a bank account, presumably Barclays will remove this facility from EGG.
Ideally it would be a card with a internet type site, i think virgin do but have maxed out with them at 0%, my other unused cards are coop and post office.

The M&S card may be used as a psuedo SBT card with the Sterling travellers cheque loophole.
A 1% fee buys you 15 months of 0% cash into your bank account.
Disclaimer: Check your bank will accept them before proceeding...
- Apply for M&S card
- But Sterling TCs from an M&S bureau de change using the card
- Pay them into your current account
Or do you mean transferring a positive balance like the Egg Money card used* to allow?
* Officially. I'm aware they're still allowing them in practice.0 -

AFAIK Barclays have made no annoucements yet. Egg removed (officially) the option of putting the egg money card in balance a while ago, but in reality, as YB said, you can still do it without issues.0 -
Whilst there is no announcement, a lot of people don't seem to like Barclays and most don't expect the same facilities to continue.
This is all speculation but there is no harm in planning ahead.
I've had a poor experience with Barclays.
I've taken out a capital one world mastercard and switched to that for cashback.
I can't help on the xfer facility though.0 -
All,
Thank you for your very helpful replies. I was not aware of the M&S sterling cheques. I have an M&S card but with only a 2K limit would the card allow me to load a positive balance onto it say, a 5k positive balance before buying the cheques.
If barclaycard have that facility to transfer to an account it would be even better, i already have a barclaycard (6k at LOB) and hopefully they would want to keep me as a customer.0 -
Most credit cards do not allow loading with a credit balance.
Whether they'd actually stop you is a different matter.0 -
Is this possibly why Egg has suddenly appeared on my credit report after it was settled as part of an IVA, was cleared and now back on report as satisfied with a completely bizarre date.IVA Completed - 2010"Wine for my men, we ride at dawn"960
