new kitchen units swelling

have just fitted a new kitchen and the units above the hob are starting to swell at the corners although they are 18" above the the hob. does anyone know where i can buy some sort of heat resistant thing i can put on my white units . any help would be greatful thanks

I have seen this problem before. Its caused by the moisture from cooking pasta, veg etc getting behind the laminate and being absorbed into the substrata. Its imperative that the moisture being properly extracted from the kitchen and using lids on your pots and pans when cooking.

We ended up changing the cupboards!

Sounds like it could be faulty edgebanding on the carcases so contact whoever supplied the units and make a claim.Its a no brainer as the units should easily cope with condesation/ water vapour from cooking.I take it you have fitted an extractor?

When this problem arises quite often it is down to heat affecting the edgebanding(lipped edges of the units) rather than moisture and this can be down to the units being fitted too close to the hob....But from what you say it sounds like faulty workmanship can you post any photo's?
