  • My son and daughter write to a brother and sister in australia who we met whilst they were on holiday in the uk. We send small choccie bars as the chocolate was one thing they totally craved while here. (sometimes my son outs in a light magazine and my daughter slips in some makeup :rotfl:, but they are still in primary school)
Not in debt and it WILL remain that way!

Make him a dvd of family, friends and old haunts, which will make him homesick. So he will come back and you don't have to worry about food parcels.

  • The chocolate really is horrible in Oz but the one time I sent some over, it had melted so probably best to send it in their winter. I struggle every Christmas with what to put in their parcel so the book idea sounds good. It started when my friend emigrated when we were 14 and we sent each other a small gift for Christmas. Then she got married so it was just two small gifts. Then they had 3 children and now have 5 grandchildren so it is very expensive and very hard to think of something different every year. They seem to send us really nice stuff, Gold Coast t shirts, key rings but really nice ones and I struggle to find anything. Maybe the Olympics will help me out. The postage we always send air mail as there is hardly any difference in price which I do find strange but has been that way for a few years.
