Bye Bye Santander!

Such a great feeling to have closed all my Santander accounts and run very fast back to my old bank Natwest
I'm sure this has been mentioned time and time again on here but just to have a vent...
Santander's incompetance, disgraceful customer service, lack of knowledge on their own internal procedures, pathetic "faster payments system" and the general lying that their staff seem to do to fit their purpose when they dont know their own procedures makes me wonder how they still have any customers!
Even when I was closing my accounts, the member of staff said "oops, nearly closed someone elses there by mistake!"
What can you say!?
Natwest all is forgiven! I regret the day I ever walked into a Santander branch.
Now, time to cut up the Santander "Electronic Use Only" peice of junk so-called Visa Debit card!

They work exactly the same way as a normal card though tbf.0 -
I disagree, ive had it not work at pay at the pump a couple of times and no it wasn't due to lack of funds :-)0

I opened an ISA with Halifax. During the opening process on the telephone I explained why I was moving my ISA from Santander and got sympathetic comments from the Halifax staff member and was persuaded to open a Reward current account too. Big mistake. Halifax are just as bad as Santander. Now trying to close accounts but proving difficult because the Halifax branch system doesn't communicate with their online system - now where have I heard that before? Staff smile and say everything is fine but it isn't! Going in to Barclays tomorrow to transfer ISA, at least they employ people who have a slight idea about how banks should work.0

Are there any more 'surprises' we should be aware of.0 -

Thanks :-)
Nope I didnt close my Natwest account when I made the horrendous decision to switch to Santander so its an existing one held at an English branch, hopefully Santander wont get hold of Natwest in England, if they do i'll be off to the co-operative!!0 -
I remember your previous thread, and to be honest I knew you'd end up back with Natwest!Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

I'm leaving Santander too. I tried to make a payment online today. Yet again they've blocked my password and want me to call them on their premium rate number. I've had enough. I've been going into the bank to transfer money to my old bank so I can make payments online. The Santander account has never worked online. We got an offer through work today to join Brittannia and receive £100. I'm seeing them tomorrow.0

Jen - Indeed, its been a shambles from the word go. I was tempted over to Santander by the switching offer and when they started messing up, lying and generally wasting my time causing nothing but aggravation, I knew it would only be a matter of time before I binned them0
