Chlorine and hair, any ideas

I know you can get the super expensive shampoos but is there any cheaper versions out there, or something else I may have in I can use. My hair feels hard and greasy after being swimming and I have washed it with ordinary shampoo, it feels yak!!
One day I might be more organised...........

DD used to swim 4 times a week and has waist length blonde hair.

She used to wear a swimming hat ever time but still needed to wash her hair straight after swimming. She used any shampoo as the expensive ones didn't really work and given she was only age 8-10 at the time she used half a bottle with each shower:eek:. She used to shampoo twice and then apply copies amounts of conditioner for dry/damaged hair and brush it through in the shower. She would then stand around and chat for 5 minutes  and rinse off. I found the Tesco ordinary shampoo and conditioner (about 59p each for big bottle) as good as Timotei etc.

    Hi lil_me,

The best place to get help with this is on the I wanna board, so I'll move your thread over there. I hope you find something that helps. :)

boots clarifying shampoo. dead cheap, also works to fade hair colour as very strong, makes your hair squeak lol

  • Our DDs always wear swimming hats to avoid this problem!

Unfortunately I'm allergic to the lovely stuff they make the caps out of, blisters are not nice, so can't wear them, will try the Boots one.

My local £1 shop has speedo anti-chlorine stuff. I bought up a few bottles as I go swimming 3 times a week. Works a treat. They do a male and female version - differences are the female smells different and has added conditioner. They still had it in last time I was there. The female one comes in a blue bottle.. the male in a green and black one.

That's the pound shop in piccadilly gardens, manchester btw, but others might have it.

Home bargains also sell an anti-chlorine shampoo for £1.50 but not tried that one.

Both my chiildren used go swimming 5/6 times a week, they used to use the leave in conditioner from avon. Also that if you put conditioner on before swimming and use a silicone cap it protects your hair while in the water.

There are two materials used for swimming caps. Latex which are more stretchy or silicone which are a much tighter fit and last longer.
