What is the current best rewards card

Currently have a Barclay Goldfish credit card, which I've had for years, but think the points reward is now pretty poor. My current C/Card spend is c. £600+ per month, which gets paid off each month via variable Direct Debit.
What's the best card at the moment for rewards based on how much you spend? Does Amex give cash back instead of points? If points are available to exchange for high street vouchers would be nice as well, providing there's a choice of retail options i.e. wouldn't want a Virgin card if you can only use the points in a Virgin store.
Don't want one with an initial special offer, as once I've taken it out I'll probably stick with it for a couple of years.
I use the card when I'm abroad on holiday as well.

It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!
