Moorcroft Debt Recovery

in Credit cards
You may remember a earlier post about Argos denying me another store card and then cancelling my payment protection for no reason. Angry as I was I decided to send them a £50.00 payment and carry on paying them. I did miss one months payment. I have now received a letter from Moorcroft saying that they acknowledge receipt of this but I have to pay the money to them. They have started ringing me 4 or 5 times a day. I know its them as i Googled the number, a Manchester number. I dont want to pay them and will pay Argos £50.00 a month until the debt is payed (only £400). Can anyone give me some info on how to get these off my back, a stern letter or something? Thank you in advance.

This letter worked for us when we were being harassed by DLC. Don't forget to type your name rather than sign it so that they can't use your signature! Good luck
Dear Sir/Madam
Re: Reference Number XXXXXXXXX
Harassment by telephone
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.
I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Please treat this also as a formal complaint, and send me a copy of your company complaints procedure.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded.
Yours faithfully,0 -

If Argos have sold the debt onto Moorcroft (they may have or they may not have) then you will not be able to pay Argos and would have to make an arrangement with Moorcroft.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

its a well known moorcroft scam to get more money out of u. they did the same to me with virgin mobile. i rang virgin who told me they will contact them and tell them to stop. never heard from them again.
if ur debt hasnt been sold to a DCA, continue to pay the original company and the dca will vanish.0 -

not 100% true, they dont have to buy it backDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
Thanks guys, think i better give Argos a ring and find out...0

Well i did ring Argos and sure enough they have sold it. So rang Moorcroft and got a 20% discount. So only payed back half the amount. Im very happy with the outcome. Im glad Argos sold it in a way. If they hadnt then I wouldve paid a lot more to them.0
