Hi there
Apologies if this post is not on the appropriate board but my question didn't seem to fit anywhere. I hope you can advise me.
My husband was given a small number of shares a while ago by his employer who are registered in the US. Every three months or so we get an american cheque for around $20 as a dividend.
Our current account used to be a One Account who would accept the cheques no problem. However, we have now switched to Santander who will not accept a foreign cheque this small.
Does anyone know some where I can get this cashed. The lady at the bank even suggested opening an american bank account. I have no idea where to start with this.
Many thanks

Trouble is that it will probably cost around $20 to process the cheque. A pity that Santander won't do it in the spirit of service to their customer.
Can you not simply transfer your business back to the One Account and leave unhelpful Santander behind?

Can you not nominate that the dividend is reinvested in to shares?0

I'd say to try another bank.
Halifax (for example) won't charge you anything on a $20 cheque.0 -
You could open a US dollar account: try Citibank or NatWest.0

Thanks everyone I will try those suggestions.0
