Does anyone know where to get a replacement lid for an Acer 3610 ?, failing that , what is the best glue to use ?.

epoxy resin (araldite etc.), probably, maybe superglue, depends on the extent and nature of the crack.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

One parts completley cracked through and the others not far off - its the part of the case on the outside edges of the hinges (both sides)I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. are the hinges (or mountings) damaged?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

The hinges themselves arent damaged, they're quite sturdy - its the case around the area where its screwed on to the hinges thats cracked , a new case lid should screw on to the hinges without problem.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My laptop case cracked in the same area, it was under warrenty so I returned it to be replaced just an option.
The other option buy a knackered alptop off ebay the same model and strip it down for the case?
if you do decide to glue it, take the thing apart dont go sticking it together while it is still assembled you may glue the case to the screen.0 -
I had a similar problem - thought the lid was going to split completely (old compaq).
Solution was to use a piece of plastic slide binder (A4 strip cut to size and had to test a few widths) along the edge of the screen. I used contact adhesive to hold it in place. A bit 'Blue Peter' but it worked and it's lasted over a year of tough child use.
And since it was black like the laptop it's barely noticeable.0
