Hi
I got a £1200 quote from renault today for work needed on my scenic. £750 of that is for the passenger side windows that fell down a couple of weeks ago, I took it to a local garage who temporarily powered them up and cut the power so they stay closed. I have for the moment said leave the windows but do the other work. Am I mad? I have air con and a huge sunroof so we shouldn't cook this summer. I just really resent having to pay out that kind of money and I am a little suspicious if it really needs to be that much. Just wondered if anyone had had similar problems or what your thoughts are. Hubby away at the moment so had to make the decision on my own so any ideas would be appreciated! :icotbaske

Common fault on them to be honest.

It's the window regulators that have failed.

Think they are about £40 for new ones and 30 mins to fit once you have removed the door card etc...

Not very clever with car jargon.......would the motor be the same as a regulator? Renault said the wiring looms or motors had gone?

Very common problem on these.I would first phone your local renault and ask if there is any recalls on the car.
  • Scenic owner from new (2004). Every window motor replaced! Later found out there is a fault with seals letting rainwater in & corroding parts inside. Recall by Renault has been issued (usual publicity!!!) But they flatly refused to help retrospectively with costs.

    Thanks for the replies
Have decided not to go ahead with windows the others problems cost enough! Renault have acknowledged there is a problem and are paying 75% of costs to all cars under 7 years. My car turned 7 in december!!! Rang customer services who went away to think about it and then said no........because I hadn't had my car serviced regularly with Renault - does anybody actually do that with a 7 year old car!!
