Hi
You come across well on this thread. I would strongly urge you to go to your GP and explore the options available to address some of the issues you listed in your original post.
I'd be wary of going down the drug route- sure it might help some of the symptoms, but it's not particularly going to address the route cause, or prevent it returning once you stop any medication.
Ask for a referral to an IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) worker. Also, depending on which area you're in, several areas are now centres of excellance for mindfulness which you might find really beneficial. For example, Oxford, Bangor, Exeter, usually in partnership with the NHS, for example Exeter university run the 8 week Mindfulness based cognitive therapy course for people with depression, they also run the mindfulness based stress reduction programme, and other 1:1 support/therapy where appropriate.
Alternatively, if you don't want to go through your GP, most cities have a very low cost counselling service, which if you google, might offer you another avenue to explore some of the issues you mention

Where the hell does the time go!!
Not a great deal to update with.
I DID manage to get a job, shortly after beginning the thread which was the main 'goal' I guess. I've been there for over a year (warehouse work).
I know that it's a good thing and i'm in a better position than I was due to having something recent on my CV again now and I have a little savings, but I still haven't actually 'moved on' in life.
I don't like this job at all, but i've resisted the urge to quit, every single Monday morning for the last year (which I'm quite proud of, having seen lots and lots of staff members doing the same job as me unable to handle it and go on benefits instead) !!
A few issues/changes at work recently make me think that I won't be able to hold out much longer though, so, once again, I'm forced to think about the future.
I still haven't a clue what I want to do with my life 'work-wise'. It's becoming clear that I never will and i'm not getting any younger.
Do you think it's best to just jump into 'anything'. Any kind of course that could potentially lead to a career within a few years? Even if I have no interest in it.
I'm gonna send off for a local college prospectus today.
Hi
I see you are getting replies to your original opening post about help with getting a job/depression, but I see you have got a job since then.
So, you want to know what to do now as you see yourself in low paid, unenjoyable work for the rest of your life?
I think if you have the time/money then lean a skill.
Maybe something manual?
Or maybe something like book-keeping or something?
You say nothing interests you workwise. Maybe its a case of doing ANYTHING to get some skills which may improve your situation.
Choose something at random and get a qualification in it!!..???0
