Call Credit's £2 statutory credit report
Comments

Well, I sent them a new email last night threatening to report them, and today got a reply to my first email from over a week ago. Coincide?!
They say they did send the report, but will send a new one as I never received it.0 -
I have ordered the statutory online report before from CallCredit within any problems, but since December they have not accepted any of the payment cards I have. They won't even accept the card they already have stored (with updated start/end dates and security code).
Their reply so far, is I can order the quarterly subscription service (huh, so they deliberately reject the payment for the statutory report only???), or I can write to them with a cheque.
Is there any reference to legislation that means they must supply the report online if requested?
Who to report the issue to if they won't budge? The ICO?0 -
You could look at the Data Protection Act 1998 at legislation.gov.uk, under section 7. It basically says that they must supply the report within a certain time from the day all these conditions are satisfied:
(1) "Received a request in writing," and
(2) the required payment, and
(3) they don't need proof of identity from you, and
(4) they don't need consent of other persons mentioned in your report.
In "writing" could mean email but nobody is required to have functional email/online facilities, so to be sure it would be best to post them a letter and cheque. Make a copy of your letter too. The ICO (yes you can report them there) has a sample letter or use the pdf form on Callcredit's website. I chose to make a letter like the ICO sample so that someone there will have to spend time reading it and hopefully they will think twice about making this payment purposely difficult.
The legislation seems unclear (I didn't read through it slowly nor am I a lawyer) about this issue:
If condition (3) is not satisfied, they have to inform you of what is missing but it doesn't seem to say when they have to inform you.0 -
I just tried the callcredit online request for my £2 report and was unsuccessful for an unknown reason, the paper copy was fine and aligned ok for my printer, I will do it this old-fashioned way and get a postal order tomorrow ! how 20th century ;-)
I have googled callcredit and there seems to be something in the pipeline regarding a totally free service but it is not ready yet !! now that would be very interesting if that works out !0 -
