As Thrift Lady says it's a volumetric measurements equivalent to 8fl. oz. But a reasonable weight aproximation is 8oz/225g for sugar, butter, eggs, oil, milk or water and 4oz/110g for flour or breadcrumbs (and I would think probably icing sugar too).0 -

(well, not in store for sale!)OMG I won't be able to unwrap a cucumber now without remembering the days before OH had his little operation-sorry was that too much information??
Seriously, thanks for such a comprehensive answer Holsale and I'm glad to know I'm not giving out duff information. :T

HOLsale- DH likes rice-a-roni and we stock up when we visit relatives in Canada. I've never found it on sale here, any ideas how to create my own
go to www.hillbillyhousewife.com
there are a lot of recipes on there and rice a roni is one of them, what I really like is you can make up several batches in one go, I got some ziplock bags from £land and made up quite a few of the rice recipes, the yellow rice is good. It came in quite handy as a couple of times we would have only had time to grab a takeaway i got my little bag of rice out and some lamb chops and had a good meal very quickly!
I did add my own little touches to the ingredients, I had some italian herbs instead of just parsley so i used them and I also veried the 'flavours' of the stock cubes, so i got lamb rice a roni to go with the chops!0 -

They are lovely! Like little savoury scones that you have with a KFC or chicken and biscuits! You can get a recipe for the KFC one on www.topsecret.com but i didn't really like them and they seemed a lot of faffing about, several US sites have them. Over to HOLsale for the proper translation!!!!!0

Another favourite of mine is catalina dressing. Again I've never seen it here, so I fetch it back and it's ok if it stops in my fridge a long time cos canadians don't date stamp a lot of their goods yet :whistle:0
