Cheaper insurance with PhD: truth or myth?

    Wow, that would also mean being smart, I never said that. And rich! I'm not being paid more than when I had a bachelor, and I've got a crappier car than the janitor. And no, the janitor doesn't have a DMC either AFAIK (albeit he's wearing a lab coat, glasses, and his hairstyle is a mess, mmh).

    Just for a last stab, I had another idea: if J. Clarkson declared his occupation as engineer instead of journalist, then it seems he could have saved around 25%. I don't see how the PhD came in then, because clearly insurers ask you about your occupation, not your qualifications, so even if he had a PhD in engineering, his story doesn't quite hold. Unless of course he misled the insurance, which I definitely wouldn't do.
