If you don't have enough money to cover your rent now perhaps you would be entitled to housing benefit? And maybe any other benefits?travelover0

Where is the holiday out of interest? You can use the transfers on the website onthebeach which are pretty cheap.
Also use a price comparrisson website for travel insurance

My partner and I recently went to Malta and managed to spend a total of under £20 a day using bakerys, supermarkets and cheap cheap buses. It was all about the free sunny walks. On the last day we did an island bus tour with the left over money. Holidays really dont need to be expensive
Good luck however you decide

Have you contacted your insurance company yet? As this is a forced reduction in hours, not your choice, you may be able to claim on that.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Not sure where you are going, but when you get there, speak to the rep and find out where the locals shop.
I went self catering to Calella in Spain once, and it was considerably cheaper walking into the residential area and shopping at a supermarket used by the Spanish locals, rather than shopping in the small grocery shops in the resort centre. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Where are you going? £40 for transfers sounds like a private transfer? Is there a bus/train you can use? I'm sure if you post your holiday destination others can help with cheap ideas.
Do you have any tesco vouchers/ boots points etc you could use/sell?£100 - £10,0000 -

Other wise it's a waste really
I would agree with trying to find someone to take it off your hands if you can do that - you can try at least, worst case you then have to decide if you use it with the additional cost or lose what you've already paid, if you can't find anyone to take it.
It must be a very difficult situation -and I understand why many are suggesting you just go...but I remember a time when money was quite tight and if you can't cover your bills with your anticipated income, I would probably feel the same as you - unable to justify any additional cost at all.
But if you work out the cost of staying at home and going through your normal routine, see how much more it would cost for you to go using the tips others have suggested...then decide if the difference between staying and going would be worth the additional cost to take the holiday and at least get your money's worth out of what you have already paid.
I hope it all works out for you one way or the other.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Can you do a car boot sale? (as around the best one to do as some are not worth it).
Can you ask your family for early birthday/xmas pressies - to pay for passports, insurance etc?
Look on review sites for the area you are going to for the cheapest places to buy provisions/eat out etc.
Ditto looking on review sites for cheaper ways to transfer to/from airports in UK and abroad.
Can you take in some ironing and earn some money in the evenings/weekends? Or work in a bar for a few weeks? Or offer some Spring Cleaning services? Just to tide you over?
Hope this helps.0
