Evicted - BBC One

Biffa
Evicted is on at 10.35pm on BBC 1 tonight - stories of homeless people following evictions or being homeless. Could be interesting to watch, and will hopefully highlight the fact that the Government needs to allow Local Authorities the money they need to build new homes to replace the ones being sold off under the Right to Buy scheme.
Just thought I'd let you all know.....

Thanks, will definately watch, the lack of social housing is mostly down to the Thatcher push for everyone to buy their home even if they could not afford it.I have two sons who although they are working don't have a hope in hell of getting on the housing ladder and have no hope of getting social housing because they are single childless males and do not exist in the eyes of the social landlords. They rent privately and pay 60% of their wages in rent.Mutual Supporters club member (Nov 2006)

I'm fortunate enough to be a housing association tennant, my mum has lost her house because the sperm donor remortgaged it fraudulently and didnt keep up the repayments, she has no money now to be able to put down for a deposit on a house, and her credit rating as demolished, she has no hope of getting somewhere to live in our area its about a 10 year wait for a single person.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

This is truely unbelievible.
I just cannot take on board that a so called civillised society treats families like this in this day & age.
these families are in these situations through no fault of there own.
I can really hardly believe this.

It's very hard to watch this, isn't it? I walked past two homeless people on the street today, didn't give money and felt awful. Started to buy Big Issue every week.
