Well, I don't think you have anything to lose by trying. Tell them it will be mentioned in the police report, and it's up to them if they apply for one or not (you have to pay for them and they can take a long time to obtain). As I said before, I've dealt with injury claims from people who haven't seen a doctor on the basis of a written statement from them, because it is entirely feasible that someone can be injured and not go to see their doctor. Obviously it's an indication that the injury isn't very serious, so the amount I settled it for was not a huge amount of money.

Can I ask what the first steps would be? I did have legal cover (it was last years policy) and have legal cover on this years one too but wouldn't imagine either of those would be too keen to help as I'm no longer covered by last years one and why would this years one help as the crash didn't occur this year.

Is it worth speaking to one of these no win no fee solicitors?

You could do, but if your injury is relatively minor they might not be interested. It might be worth trying to resolve the injury first, a bit of physio might sort it out. You could ring the TP insurers and see if they could refer you to someone for that.

Definitely - and it won't cost you anything to speak to them to see if they will take your case, so nothing risked by contacting them.
