Need new basic bank account

After speaking to the CCCS tonight and finally admitting we need to do something, I need to set up a basic account to get things paid into etc and for priority bills.

Which accounts are the ones to go for and easy to set up?

Anyhelp appreciated.

    Hi,

I went without a bank account for a long time after getting a CCJ and being quite badly in debt, I opted for a Royal Bank Of Scotland Key Account.

It is good for Direct debits and having your wages paid into etc but only offers a cashline card not a Debit card so therefore cant tempt Unnecessary spending.

Have a look at this link
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=180121

It details which banks have associations with what creditors and what services each account provides.

There is another thread that gives you a link to the file I mention. It was posted recently. Can anyone help?

    Yup,they a bank.
  • As far as am aware the Royal Bank Of Scotland do not do any credit checks for the Key account, Therefore, any credit record is welcome, they upgrade as well afer 6 months if you call your local branch,

if you have not got a local branch you can pay cheques etc into any branch of the halifax for quick clearance

Then they start throwing big loans at you...and get you into big doo doo
  • Alliance & Leicester will give you a basic cheque account with visa electron card. You can apply online for their premium account - and they'll turn you down but offer you their basic account instead. Takes a couple of weeks to set up and they'll transfer your direct debits fo you.
