I would recommend a Tesco card, I have a similar issue, and occasionally I end up picking up hotel bills of over £3k (2 weeks in India was the last one)
I have a stupidly high credit limit with them to cover such events, and they are happy to leave it that high knowing that I am an 'Occasioinal High transaction' user.
And the points are nice :)

Tescos points work pretty well (if you have a tescos near you), so it's a pretty good rewards card.
51 days is quite a long period, so that will help.
You need to be aware however that you must make at least your minimum repayment on time (for credit report purposes) and if you don't want to ay interest you need to pay the full balance on time.
So it is possible that you might have to pay the bill before you get your expenses.
Do you have savings to pay this? if not how will you manage it?

Aside from the special deals that other cards offer (club points on Tesco is pretty good), Barclaycard is a pretty good card.

Don't know if its just me, but I always get a full month to pay. Most of my other cards seem to give me 2 to 3 weeks from the statement date.

    Thanks guys :)

Have been accepted for a £2.5k limit Tesco credit card. Did get concerned as the website stated I had been accepted for the 18.9% APR rate initially, but when I went to the Credit Agreement section, the T&C's showed that the 0% APR offer was going to apply for the 13 months for Purchases and 9 months for BT's.

Do they usually take a while to send out the card's and pins?

Can take 10 days or so.
They probably outsource some of it.
