Sending E-mails problem

I have recently encountered problems sending emails from Thunderbird, Outlook Express and Eudora, I am with Talk talk as my ISP and my e-mail address is @tesco.net and I can receive e-mails ok. when I go to send an e-mail I get the following error

"An error occured sending mail. The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: aamtaout03.winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from (My computer address).

The SMTP setting is mail.tesco.net and untill last Friday I had no problems. I have also tried putting the talk talk SMTP setting but get the same error message. I can send e-mails by logging into my a/c with tesco but would prefer to use a mail programme such as Thunderbird as I have been able to do for the past 2 years!!!

Any help would be gratfully received.

Thanks

Joe :confused::confused:

    Don't know if it is connected, but I am having problems with posting mail today: this is the response that I got from my domain provider:

    I am writing in response to your email about the downtime experienced this afternoon.

    First of all may I apologise for this inconvenience and re-assure that the UK2 team have been working extremely hard to identify and rectify this problem. I would like to inform you that we expect all services to be fully operational and back to normal within the next hour.

    I would like to share with you what has happened this afternoon. The UK2 ISP identity was "hijacked" by an Indonesian ISP. Although it took a short while we successfully contacted the uplink provider of this ISP who immediately fixed the situation by implementing a filter. We will be taking immediate steps to prevent this form ever happening again.

    I would like to re-iterate that everything is now under control and we expect all services to be fully operational and back to normal within the next hour.

    I apologise for any inconvenience.
