First Time Guinea Pig Owner

We have looked at some rescue. There isn't too many in area and the ones we have checked have no sows. They mainly have older boars. Will keep a look out though x
It's always worth emailing/phoning rescues, if you haven't already, as often they have more/different guinea pigs to those advertised on their websites as things can change so quickly. Unfortunately the larger rescues tend to have new arrivals coming in all the time, so it's worth letting them know what you're looking for and they can keep you in mind if anything suitable comes up. You might not have to wait long at all.
I've heard brilliant things about Guinea Pig Rehoming Norfolk. According to their website they probably don't have anything suitable right now but have given details of some baby guinea pigs in Swanton Abbott, if that's anywhere near you:

Another C&C convert, although i could never get on with the fleece...i have enough washing to do with 2 grubby children and a messy husband.
So we have gone back to hay and my piggies seem to like it more as they like to burrow right into it.
I have 3 boys... GHD is 4, he came from the RSPCA, they had over 100 from the same person, G had a mate called George, but he died 3 months after we got him. So G was on his own for 2 years and was/is very spoilt.
Last summer we were out for a drive and went past a house with a sign outside selling 2 piggies with cage and run for £20. I couldn't resist, it turned out that the kids had lost interest after about a month, the piggies weren't in great shape, they'd been fed the wrong things and obviously hadn't been handled at all. So that how we acquired Porky and Peppa.
The 3 boys were living happily all together until about 2 months ago when the younger 2 reached adolerscence, Peppa started getting quite aggressive, so we've had to separate them, so my C&C is now on 2 levels. They all seem very happy now and all chirrup to one another .0 -
Used to have them little furries some time ago - are you plannign to get a pair or 2 girls or 2 boys?
I had 3 girls, they were lovely and an absolute joy. Then one day in a pet shop I saw a jet black pig and asked the shop owner if it was a gilr too - he assured me it was so I bought it.
You can guess the rest, very happy MALE guinea pig and 3 pregnant females.....
I was not aware that babies get born in kind of sacks that the mom has to break - I was never planning on breeding my lot...hmmmmm
Still, rehomed the whole lot of babies - and the male guinea pig after that...
All the best with yoru ones when you get them

Absoultely agree, my vet is very good but has referred me on a few occasions when he was a bit stumped to an exotics vet a few miles away who has been excellent.
Its good to read up on the kind of ailments they can have, especially the eyes which can be a big indicator of sickness elsewhere in the body.0
