Bank transfer?
Just want to check though, you have MET IN PERSON the person/organisation you're transferring to? I just know so much of the work over at Scamwarners.com, so would urge you to exhibit caution if the receiver isn't a personal friend you know well.0 -
No, I haven't met them personally, but I have someone who I trust who has been over there and stayed with them, and can vouch for their authenticity. Thank you for the reminder though. It is always good to be cautious. Daft question, but with a bank transfer, would I have to give my bank details to them, and it this likely to be the cheapest and most secure way of transferring money?0

You would get their bank details from them (ask for their swift/bic and iban numbers), and talk to your bank. There will be a charge, but it is secure and simple.
Western Union is less secure as anyone who knows the secret information and control number can collect it, and it is irreversible, which is why scammers love it and legitimate business should avoid it. Likewise MoneyGram. The bank transfer does not guarantee the legitimacy of the receiver, but at least you can be certain it will be paid to the account you send it to!0 -
Paddy, thank you so much. This information is invaluable, since I was considering using Westerrn Union. Much gratitude to you!0

There are very few legitimate reasons to use Western Union over a bank transfer, ever!0

Paddy, I can see why. But what of Paypal? Would that be an option, or it is not generally used in the Third World countries?0
-
Paypal isnt available in some countries, I am not sure about Kenya but know it is not available in China or India.0
