No1 police credit union

Hello, this is my first post despite having read every possible post on this forum for the past year and I hope I have put this in the correct area!! I am looking at an iva and have telephone appointments with payplan and CCCVA over the next 2 days, most of my debts, all £67000 of them, are with the main highstreet people but my main debtor is a loan I have with the Copperpot No1 police credit union for £11,400 which is taken out of my wage each month, I believe they are not owned by the police and just work along side them, my big concern is they will not entertain an iva or anything similar and Payplan and cccs cannot tell me either but did state they 'didnt think' they would be a problem, to be honest I am too scared to ring them and ask incase it tips them off!! Does anyone have any experience of credit union debts in this area?
many thanks

Just had a quick look at their website and they are regulated by the FSA so should be ok i think as they have to go with the FSA rules. What about getting some to put a call in for you not divulging who you are and just ask if the company accepts iva's etc when members are having financial issues. Its better to know than to worry.
  • They are regulated by FSA, I will try and make anon enquires, I did ask them a few months ago if I could rejig my payments with them due to my current financial state due to police pay cuts/relationship break up and my cancelled wedding 1 day before which is still being paid off by me (argghh!) and they were very helpful althought it meant i had to start my loan again over 7.5 years!!! I will make decreet enquiries tomorrow..... thanks for your reply.

Are you a police officer? Staff?
If so, speak to your fed rep, they are very helpful in this area.
