overpayment paying by credit card?

i have a overpayment that i agreed to pay by DD of about £35 / month for 12 months. havent received the forms yet so its not started. Im not entirely happy about paying that much but they seemed to think it was reasonable. I had a brainwave the other night. Supposing I got a credit card with a 0% interest for 12 months. i could pay it on that and then setup a standing order to pay the card less from my bank account. There are times when i could pay more if ive had a cheap month or done overtime. and then if i havent paid it off after a year i can balance transfer it to another card.
I want the option of flexible payments. does this sound like a reasonable way to go about it?
thx

As long as you pay off the full balance by the time the end of the 0% interest period ends, it sounds perfect!!! Just be very disciplined!!0

Hi,
Most benefit places will not accept credit card as a way of paying an OP and if they do it is because they make a charge for it - usually 1.5%.
The reason for this is since cashback was available on credit cards they are trying to put you off making some money from everyday bills like council tax. Also all businesses are charged per transaction so it doesn't seem right that the council lose out and part of council tax payments have to go towards this.

HM Revenue & Customs don't accept payment by credit cards. They'd rather you be in debt to them and not someone else!Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0

If you've made an agreeement, stick to it! ie pay every month, what you agreed to pay, don't overpay and don't underpay.
If you haven't yet signed the agreement, might be worth checking out whether you could get it reduced to pay over 2 years. If it was rent arrears and it went to court, you could be paying a LOT less than that. Of course they're going to ask for it back as quick as possible, but if the agreement needs to be sustainable for you.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Just do a balance transfer from the card to your account and pay them from that.
But if you cant afford teh £35 a month offer them less, there is not much they cant do if you dont have the money.0 -
i think i'll just see how it goes. I can always do the credit card thing later.0
