Interested in house thats not for sale

Good evening to everyone.I am after a bit of advice.A house recently came on to the market which we were very interested in so i contacted the ea to arrange a viewing. However they informed me that there were already 3 full price offers on the property but the sellers couldnt find anywhere to buy so therefore the sale was going on hold.Is there anyway i could contact the people selling the house privately to say i was still very interested? My house isnt currently on the market so i am in no hurry to move.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Sorry, but why would the vendor be interested in any expression of interest from you? They already had three full price offers (presumably) from people who have already sold.

  • Maybe they would be interested if you were willing to pay a bit more? It doesn't sound like any offers have been accepted (although might be worth checking).

If no offers have been accepted, I would be tempted to drop a note through their door expressing an interest and perhaps highlight your willingness to make an increased offer...

Presume they will be moving sometime soon so I think you have nothing to lose by dropping a note through the door - the EA is more likely to forget that you have expressed an interest than the vendors are when they are finally ready to move - I would just ask them to let you know before they remarket the house.

If you are thinking you might put yourself ahead in the negotiations and avoid agents fees this is would be at best ethically dubious, I suppose you might argue they didn't introduce you to the vendor if you've got a brass neck.

The EA represents the vendor, not the purchaser, so ethics of cutting out EA does not come into it for Sean. It is a contractural matter between the vendor and their EA.
