Cat Insurance - Halifax eXtra or AXA

Hi,
I am going to take out cat insurance for my kitten. I see from the forums and recommendations I have been given, that Halifax eXtra and AXA are very good for Pet insurance due to life cover, etc.
I got quotes for both and there is only 50p difference (£7.xx). However AXA has £100 excess whereas Halifax eXtra only has an excess of £75.
Does anyone know which company I should go for as I know it’s important to stick with the same insurer for life?
I just want to make the best choice, thanks in advance!!

I have been been a Halifax customer with my 2 cats (now 3 and a half) for the last 3 years but this year their quote was a lot higher than last year and they couldn't budge on it so I quoted with AXA and got a substantially better rate.
May be worth noting that its only important to stick with the same insurer if your cat develops a medical problem that requires treatment due to the 'no cover for existing problems' clause. Mine have never been to the vets for anything other than jabs so no problem with changing.0 -
I have been with Axa for nearly two years, submitted my first claim at Christmas and am still waiting payment despite being assured it was being dealt with as a priority! Highly not recommended and I will change company at the end of the current insured year.0

Same here, AXA paid out last week but I've been waiting since the beginning of January for them to do so. I'm stuck with them as my wee girl ( dog ) has liver failure and probably won't be with me for to much longer. I actually told them on the phone that word was getting out on the different animal forums that they weren't a good company to deal with, lo and behold the cheque came the next week :rotfl:, I've just submitted another claim which as it's for the same dog and same condition should be paid out quite quickly, I'll let you know.0 -
hI,I swopped from Halifax to AXA because I noted that when the dog gets older the excess shoots up.
Check it out on their sites.
And do see if you can get cash back on the premium from Topcashback.0
