  • It isn't just Swinton who do this. I had the same happen to me 5 years ago with Direct Line. There were 4 months left on the policy, which had already been paid for. They wanted £30 to cancel.

Whilst I have sympathy for you in as much as cancelling the policy should at worst be free rather than charging you, I'm sure that they would have had you sign something to explain what charges you would face in the event of policy changes. Not that I think that justifies the charges.

I'm not saying it's your fault, but we should all read Ts & Cs a little closer to help prevent these surprises later on. I've no doubt I would be caught out the same way as you have been.

Whether they can justify the charges or not they are entitled to charge what they want for there service, if you dont like it there are a lot of price comparison websites that will give you a price and let you deal direct with the insurer.

It's like anything, you pays you money you takes you choice..

Probably not what you want to hear but it's just how I see it!

    Cheer then ta:beer:

One day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T

Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged. :(

    Or maybe not:mad:
